Becontree School Association

Welcome to the BSA page of our School website.

The BSA stands for Becontree School Association. We are a group of parents, grandparents and volunteers who get together and create wonderful exciting fundraising events for our children to enjoy.

We have been operating successfully for around 6 years now and have raised in excess of £10,000. £5000 of this money has created a centre piece garden in our main ,playground which opened in September 2014. Trees were planted in the centre of the 4 seating areas for everyone to enjoy for generations to come.

We are currently helping the school to create a pleasant canopy and seating area in the Infant playground so that children may relax and be shaded in all types of weather.

Last year, we purchased some benches which are located at the school reception for Parents to wait comfortably in this area. We also bought a lovely Green House, which has been erected at the back of the School so we can continue our 'Seed to Plate' programme as our previous green house was old and perished in some bad weather. In addition to our growing stock of games and prizes we also bought 3 fantastic large gazebos, so that our events can continue in all weathers, and just recently we have bought some barriers which can be used at many of our events to help organise queues and keep things safe.

In the past our fantastic fun events have included decorating an Easter egg competition, numerous discos, food festival, Cinema nights, decorating a diya at Diwali, Our Art and craft Eid celebration and of course, our now famous Summer Fete and Winter Fayres. All events seem to be enjoyed by many.

You will find updates on up and coming events on this page too, so please feel free to check in with us regularly.

We are always looking for volunteers and new members so if you are interested in sharing some of your ideas and time with us please contact our Chairwoman Katy Blackwell or leave your details in the office and someone will contact you.

Previously in 2016

When we returned after the summer holidays the BSA fun continued with an art competition. The work was stunning and it was available to be viewed after school at the art and craft event. One lucky winner from each class was chosen and they received a lovely art set as a prize. Photos of this event can be found on the visual arts section of this website.

Our ever growing Winter Fayre was the biggest and busiest we have ever had. The fun included visiting Santa in his grotto, real Reindeers to pet, a fairground ride and lots of fun games and prizes. This event raised over £900 profit, making 2016 very successful in fun and fundraising, more than £2000 profit was made in total and we look forward to using this in ways to help the school in 2017.

2017, What have we done so far?

Well 2017 is looking jam packed with some great events, some of which are funraising and others are completely free and organised for everyone to enjoy.

Just recently we had our 'Healthy Lifestyle event' this was a free information event with representatives from local sports/activity groups and also from the womens refuge. School catering came and shared samples of healthy school meals, I believe the cheese flan was a favourite!

We were fortunate to be donated a generous sum from Tesco Goodmayes which enabled us to offer Free Fruit for everyone and the opportunity for everyone to make themselves a bag of healthy cereal. We would like to thank Tesco for supporting this event.

We had a fantatstic Raffle with 28 healthy prizes, this raised in excess of £110  which will be banked and go towards funding future events.

If you would like to share any ideas with us or come and join our BSA please contact Katy Blackwell(chairperson) or Catherine Goss (vice chairperson) via the school office.
