  • Growth Mindset

We want all children to relish challenges and embrace their mistakes as part of the learning process. We also want them to value the importance of effort, respond to feedback and take inspiration from others. This will help them to achieve not only in school but in their future lives.

We promote this by using growth mindset language and attitudes in the classroom and promoting the power of 'Yet!' We believe there is a difference between not knowing and not knowing yet. We teach children about the power of yet through our very own Growth Mindset Rap. This positive attitude to learning is important as it can impact on how children will approach new learning experiences in all aspects of their life.

In EYFS and Year 1, we teach children key growth mindset characteristics by introducing them to four main characters:

    Professor Perseverance

    Councillor Co-operate

    Captain Curious

    Inspector Improvement

    Professor Perseverance Stories

    Councillor Co-operate Stories

    Inspector Improvement Stories

    The 5Rs

From Year 2 onwards, we teach the children about the importance of taking responsibility for their learning behaviours. This positive attitude to learning is important in order to support both their cognitive ability as well as their skill set which can have an impact on how they will approach new learning experiences in all aspects of their life.

These learning behaviours are taught through the 5Rs:

    • Respectful
    • Ready
    • Responsible
    • Reflective
    • Resilient
