Active and Sustainable Travel Workshop

On Friday 20th June the Eco Committee and Travel Ambassadors took part in an Active and Sustainable Travel workshop delivered by Ian and Anna from SYSTRA.

The Active and Sustainable Travel presentation delivered to Becontree Primary was a result of SYSTRA’s commitment to delivering social value within the areas where they undertake project work. In this instance, they recently delivered a project for the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham to review options to provide a new crossing over the River Roding between the A13 and the River Thames. This would improve east-west connectivity, particularly for public transport users, pedestrians and cyclists.

The children had to think about what active and sustainable travel was and reasons why it is important. They then worked in small groups to plan ways to improve our local area around our school to promote active and sustainable travel.
