    Brightening up the Borough Campaign

    18 June – 31 August

We are asking everyone to join this community campaign between 18 June and 31 August  to brighten up the borough ready for the summer after this awful year.

Decorate your doors, windows, fences and gardens using all the colours of the rainbow. Put up the bunting up ahead of the Thank You Festival on 3 to 4 July and the Becontree 100 Festival and the Roundhouse Music Festival (Becontree Forever Weekender) on the 14 to 15 August which celebrates the centenary of the Becontree Estate.

We want the whole community to get involved including residents, schools, shops, venues, care homes and everyone in between.

To get involved get decorating from 18 June and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed buildings and gardens! Tell your neighbours and let’s brighten up the borough with colour!

Download our activity packs created by local artists Grace and Poppy from Grape Arts and Sarina Mantle (Wild Suga) supported by the White House. The packs will be out by half term followed by our ‘how to videos’. Go to:

    www.lbbd.gov.uk/brightentheborough

Send in photos or film footage by 10 July to summeroffestivals@lbbd.gov.uk to be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Tag @summerofest on Facebook or @summeroffestivals on Instagram using the hashtag #brighteninguptheborough

You can grab your bunting pack to help with Brightening up the Borough from our Becontree Forever page or by clicking here.
