World Book Day 2018 celebrations will take place on Thursday 1st March - I have a feeling it's going to be a good one! Heroes and Villains is the theme. I can't wait to see everyone in their costumes.

INSPIRE is a festival and brand which celebrates young people’s talent and cultural achievement in Barking & Dagenham. The festival has grown since its origins in 2015. Events are organised in partnership between schools, arts organisations and FE institutions and its growth is due to the hard work of those organisations and young people involved. The festival is set to grow in 2018, with a theme of A YEAR FOR YOUNG PEOPLE’S CULTURE… OUR BARKING & DAGENHAM. Activities will go on throughout 2018, including performance and just as important, enabling talented young people to learn more about the jobs and opportunities available in the creative economy. Partners will include Barking & Dagenham College and well-known Universities along with major regional and local Arts & Heritage Organisations.

Throughout September from the 11th to the 29th, Barking and Dagenham libraries and Learning centre are hosting events celebrating the work of authors and our local libraries in promoting enjoyment of reading. Many of these events feature either real-life authors or information about how to become a published author yourself with the help of a special project, Pen to Print.
To learn more, please see the leaflet below, which includes details of the events being held within the borough throughout this month.
